GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

The archaeological site of Samaipata located in the last foothills of the eastern Andes of Bolivia, at an altitude of about 1,900 meters, is commonly known as “El Fuerte of Samaipata” and with this denomination it was inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites by the UNESCO. However, the most characteristic and striking feature of the site is not its defensive installations, but rather the gigantic sandstone rock in which many geometric elements such as bands of rhombuses, triangles, channels, steps, chairs and stairs are carved. In addition to figurative recordings such as felines and snakes, everything that gives this site a unique character.

DESCRIPTION SAMAIPATA FULL DAY

On the Samaipata full day we will visit the monument called “El Fuerte” located in the department of Santa Cruz, Florida province, municipality of Samaipata, about 7 km away. Also the same name of the town. Likewise, at 1920 meters above sea level the largest ceremonial work of rock art in Latin America and the world is located. Furthermore, it is an imposing and gigantic mass of very thin reddish quartz sandstone, completely carved on its back.

We will continue with the visit to the Hummingbird Refuge, this refuge became a natural sanctuary, vibrant with the fluttering and singing of multiple species of hummingbirds and other birds.
