Detailed Itinerary – Illimani Ascent (4 Days)
Hotel Pick-Up – 09:00 am
The tour begins with private transport pick-up from your centrally located hotel in La Paz.
Transfer to Pinaya & Lunch
We travel to Pinaya (4200 m.a.s.l.), where you will enjoy lunch.
Hike to Base Camp (4500 m.a.s.l.)
After lunch, begin a 3-hour trek to Base Camp on an easy path.
Camp Set-Up & Dinner
Your guide will set up the tent and prepare dinner. Night: Rest at Base Camp.
Breakfast – 08:00 am
Start the day with breakfast at camp.
Ascent to Condor’s Nest High Camp (5550 m.a.s.l.)
After 1.5 hours, begin the 6-hour hike to High Camp, also known as “Condor’s Nest”.
Lunch & Rest
At midday, stop for lunch and rest. Around 13:00, continue the ascent, arriving at Condor’s Nest around 16:00.
Camp Set-Up & Dinner at High Camp
While you rest, your guide will set up the tent and prepare dinner. 6:00 pm: Rest early for summit day.
Breakfast – 01:00 am
Start the day with breakfast in preparation for the summit push.
Ascent to Illimani Summit (6490 m.a.s.l.)
Around 2:00 am, start the ascent to the summit, which takes about 6 hours and is done roped to your guide for safety.
- The first section is a ridge with a 45° slope.
- Continue along a mixed path (plains and inclines) with a 40° slope.
- Close to the summit (6000 m.a.s.l.), there is a 100-meter-long, 55° ice wall.
Illimani Summit (6490 m.a.s.l.)
Once on the summit, you’ll have about 15 minutes to enjoy the impressive Andes views.
Descent to High Camp and Base Camp
Descend to High Camp (arriving ~11:00 am for lunch and rest), then continue down to Base Camp and hike on to Pinaya.
Camp Set-Up, Dinner & Overnight in Pinaya
Your guide sets up camp, prepares dinner, and you rest overnight in Pinaya.
Breakfast – 08:00 am
Breakfast in Pinaya before returning to La Paz.
Return to La Paz
After breakfast, begin your private transfer back to La Paz.
Arrival at Hotel
Arrive at your hotel around midday. End of services.
